Give a project one approved budget and spread it across its work breakdown, so every phase and cost code carries its own figure.
Create the budget
- Follow Create a budget and set the Scope (Assign To) to Project, then pick your project.
- Tera prefills the start and end dates and currency from the project, and sets the Total Budget Amount to the sum of the top-level planned amounts.
- A WBS Allocation grid appears, seeded with one row per node — WBS Node, Planned, and Allocated, plus an Unallocated row.
- Adjust the Allocated figures as needed, then Save Draft or Save & Activate.
Note: The allocation is seeded from the project's planned amounts, but editing it changes the budget only — your project plan is left as it is.
Review it later
Open the budget and go to its WBS tab to see the breakdown with Planned alongside Allocated.
Two things to know
- Spend isn't coded to individual WBS nodes yet. The WBS view compares planned vs allocated; actual and committed spend is tracked at the budget and project level. See Track project and portfolio costs.
- A budget covers one fiscal year. For a multi-year project, create a separate budget for each fiscal year.
