Tera tracks budget consumption the way finance teams think about it — money you've promised is separated from money you've spent.
The four figures
- Total budget — the amount allocated.
- Committed — money promised but not yet invoiced, from an approved purchase order.
- Actual (spent) — money actually incurred, once the vendor bill is booked.
- Available — what's left after both commitments and actuals.
How money moves
- A purchase order is approved against the budget → the amount becomes Committed.
- The vendor bill is booked → the commitment converts to Actual. It doesn't double-count: a ₹800,000 PO followed by a ₹800,000 invoice consumes ₹800,000, not ₹1,600,000.
- If a commitment is cancelled or reduced → the amount is released back to available.
Where to see it
Open a budget and go to the Transactions tab. Every movement is listed with its Date, Entity, Movement (Committed or Actual), Event, Category, Vendor, Amount, and Reference. Filter by category, entity, or movement type, or search.
On the Overview tab, the Budget Utilization bar splits the same picture visually into Actual, Committed, and Remaining.
Note: Purchase order screens aren't available in Tera yet — commitments and actuals flow in from your connected systems and imports. What you see on the budget is the resulting ledger.
